What species of fish will we catch?

We will be after any one of the following: Chinook (king) salmon, coho salmon, steelhead/rainbow trout, brown trout and lake trout. What is biting depends on the month, the water temperature and where the bait has moved.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Fishing conditions can vary and the Captain will cancel due to unsafe conditions such as lightning. However, we will fish in rain and wind. If your trip is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, it may be rescheduled or refunded.

What can I do to prepare for the trip?

Avoid rich foods and excessive alcohol the night before. Eat a light breakfast. If taking motion sickness medication, please follow directions.

What if someone aboard gets sick, do I still have to pay?

Unfortunately yes, due to the cost involved and limited trip availability. If you think you may be prone to motion sickness, we do suggest a motion sickness pill. If you will be taking a motion sickness pill please follow directions.

What should I bring?

Dress for comfort. Bring sunscreen, camera, sunglasses, a jacket (even in summer) and wear light colored sole shoes. Bring a small cooler for lunch and snacks — you will also need a cooler to transport your catch.

Do I need to bring any fishing equipment?

We provide you with all the equipment necessary. Please respect the boat and equipment, as it is very expensive to replace if damaged or lost overboard.

Who will clean the fish?

The crew will clean and bag all your fish for you.

Are fishing licenses required?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Michigan DNR requires licenses. One-day fishing licenses can be acquired and are available on-line. However the state of Michigan does not require a fishing license if under the age of 17.

How many people can come along?

The boat is U.S. Coast Guard licensed for 6 passengers. Larger parties may be accommodated with multiple boats — contact us for more information.

Question 10

How do I hold my date?

Accepted Answer

Pick a date on the booking page and send the request. We confirm availability with the captain, then take a deposit to lock in the date. The balance is due the day of the trip.

Where do we meet?

Accepted Answer

We meet at a marina on Muskegon Lake — the exact dock and directions are sent with your booking confirmation. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your departure time.
